Meet the Team

Daniele Scuderi
Workshop Lead | Luthier | Lifelong Woodworker
Since 2017, Daniele has been immersed in the world of strings, repairing and restoring violins, violas, cellos and double basses.
A lover of handicrafts, Daniele’s affection for woodworking has been with him for life, but it really blossomed when he began working in carpentry with his father.
Always curious about using his craftsmanship skills to make instruments, when the opportunity to study violin-making arose? Daniele jumped at the opportunity.
With a masterful eye for detail and strong-willed focus, he enjoys the process of fine-tuned work and the second-to-none satisfaction of breathing life into his customers’ instruments. Whether he’s restoring a centuries-old violin, or setting up a brand new instrument, Daniele finds peace, purpose, and joy in his work.
Passionate about education, he relishes the opportunity to work with children and their parents. His favourite part? Seeing their eyes light up as he tells them about all the incredible facets of their new instrument, and walking them through, step-by-step, how to take care of their instrument, now, and long into the future.
Daniele has a unique way of integrating old and new with genuine mastery.
He perfectly balances tradition and innovation, and brings this exquisite mix to all his projects in our Makers’ Studio.

Millie Antliff
Apprentice Luthier | Double Bassist | Adorer of Instruments
Millie's journey in the world of music began at the young age of 7 when she started playing stringed instruments. Her passion for music only grew stronger over the years, and when she moved to Australia in 2012, she eagerly took on the challenge of learning the double bass.
Driven by her love for the instrument, Millie pursued her studies in classical Double Bass performance at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music. Her dedication to her craft and her instrument is evident in her exceptional skills and deep understanding of the double bass.
However, Millie's passion for music doesn't stop at playing. She is equally passionate about luthiery and the inner workings of string instruments. She thoroughly enjoys the troubleshooting aspect of her role, where she assesses and finds solutions for any queries or concerns customers may have with their instruments.
Millie's dedication to customer satisfaction is unwavering. She finds joy in sharing her knowledge and experiences with customers, helping them navigate their own musical journeys. She understands the sentimental value that instruments hold and strives to make every visit to the Simply for Strings workshop a positive and memorable experience.
Whether you're a seasoned musician or just starting out, Millie is committed to ensuring that you receive the utmost care and love for your instrument.
Music is all about connection. And so are we.
