Breitkopf & Härtel has maintained unwavering support for composers throughout its history, engaging in close editorial partnerships with renowned figures like Beethoven, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt, Wagner, and Brahms.

In the 19th century, they pioneered the publication of groundbreaking "complete works" editions for various composers, including Bach (the Bach-Gesellschaft edition), Mozart (the Alte Mozart-Ausgabe), and Schubert (the Franz Schubert's Werke).
