Jay Haide instruments are hand-made using quality seasoned maple and spruce, and have a tone quality and finish normally found in instruments costing much more. Jay Haide instruments are modeled on historical makers such as Stradivarius, Guarneri, Guadagnini, Maggini, Montagnana and Ruggieri. Renowned for their high-quality materials and exquisite craftsmanship, Jay Haide instruments feature highly-flamed maple and a lustrous golden-orange varnish, which is meticulously applied and artfully antiqued giving each instrument the patina of age.

The History of Jay Haide Instruments

It all began in 1992, in a small violin shop in Berkeley, California – Ifshin Violins. Master violin maker and store owner, Jay Ifshin, was dissatisfied and frustrated by the inconsistent quality of instruments that were supplied to his shop. So, he decided to take matters into his own hands. Teaming up with master violin maker and shop foreman of Ifshin Violins, Haide Lin, the pair established their very own workshop in China and the renowned lineage of Jay Haide instruments was created.

Initially, Jay Haide instruments were exclusively crafted for Ifshin Violins. However, their reputation quickly grew, attracting interest from violin shops worldwide. The demand for high-quality string instruments at affordable prices soared, accelerating the growth of Jay Haide.

Today, Jay Haide instruments can be found in esteemed violin shops across Europe, the United Kingdom, Japan, the USA, Canada, and Australia.

Simply for Strings stocks a range of Jay Haide violins, violas and celli all year round. Jay Haide also makes double basses, however, Jay Haide basses are only available to order, so please get in touch with our team if you're interested. 

Violin Models – Stradivarius (1/2, 3/4, 7/8, 4/4), Guarneri (4/4), Guadagnini (4/4), Balestrieri (4/4) and Baroque. 

Viola Models – Stradivarius (15", 15.5", 16", 16.5"), Maggini (15", 15.5", 16", 16.5"), and Bajoni (16", 16.25").

Cello Models – Stradivarius (1/2, 3/4, 7/8, 4/4), Montagnana (7/8, 4/4), Vuillaume (4/4) and Ruggieri (4/4).

Double Bass Models – Italian, German or French Double Bass.
